Ocean Shores, WA, June, 2003!

All photos taken by me.   (Just thought I 'd throw that in)  : )

Ocean Shores is on the Washington coast about 2.5 hours from Seattle. My family
used to come here about every summer when I was a kid, but in the last twenty years,
I've only been here once. The beach is very shallow, so it's a long walk from the hotel
to the edge of the water, especially when the tide is out.

The weather was cloudy while we were there, except on the last day. A local once told us
that summer was the worst time of year for her because the weather is too hot for her. So, I
guess a few clouds aren't bad. I say this much: being at the ocean this time of year is amazing,
because there are so few people. I walked about a mile of the beach and passed only 4 people!

Family on the beach
Mom, Ryan, Laura and Jon walking on the beach and checking out seashells. In the background
is the timeshare in which we stayed.

Beach at low tide
Low tide exposed a section of sand that allowed a temporary "bay". This made
it possible to have water between the camera and the main part of the beach.
In the background are our timeshare and a couple other hotels. Definitely not
a crowded area, which is very nice.

A crow for Denny
The mandatory crow shot. I think crows show up for my camera.

Sand, sea and sky
Sand, sea and sky. I like the way the water shines on the beach at low tide.

The wide beach
Like I said, the beach at Ocean Shores is long, especially at low tide. The
city even allows you to drive on the beach closer to town -- that's always fun! The
timeshare is barely visible at far left.

The beach, with beach grass, when the sun finally came out
When the sun finally decided to come out, it really brightened the beach. You have to walk
through the beach grass to get to the beach.

Mike and George, napping
We stuck George, the traveling toad, on Mike's head and he fell asleep.
I'd never pass up a picture like this...
